We are continuously working to maintain and improve the water system. Some of the major projects we are currently working on involve the installation of new, or the replacement of existing, equipment and facilities needed to provide safe, reliable water service.
Aquarion is constructing a new water treatment facility at its Bonnie Lane Wellfield. Known as the Little River Water Treatment Plant, the facility will help ensure the delivery of reliable, high-quality water service to the community. The new facility will provide water treatment for the four wells in the wellfield. The original wellfield consisted of a single well, Well 7A, which was installed in the 1950s. The existing water treatment plant was designed to treat the capacity of Well 7A alone. The new water treatment plant will upgrade treatment to meet current drinking water standards and allow for treatment of the full production capacity of the wellfield. The new water treatment plant will include improvements for chemical storage and handling, spill containment, worker safety, and site security. The contractor for the project is T Buck Construction and typical work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2026. There will likely be a moderate increase in truck traffic near the project site for construction vehicles and deliveries.
