At Aquarion, we know that financial struggles can be overwhelming. That's why we're proud to introduce our Low Income Rate Assistance Program (LIRAP)—a new customer assistance program designed to help low-income households in Connecticut save money on their water bills.

What is LIRAP?

Our Low Income Rate Assistance Program (LIRAP) is a new customer assistance program from Aquarion that provides a 15% on-bill discount for eligible customers in Connecticut. This discount is in addition to our other programs, including our Voucher Program and Flexible Payment Plan Program.

Who is eligible for LIRAP?

If you are a residential customer in Connecticut and wish to apply for the Aquarion LIRAP program, you will need to qualify through Operation Fuel. They will confirm your identity and qualifications for the LIRAP program to ensure guidelines are followed and funds reach customers who need assistance. To qualify, customers must have an income below 60% of the state median income (SMI). Refer to the section below for information on how to apply.

Note: Owners of multi-family, seasonal, commercial, or industrial properties are not eligible for the LIRAP program.

How does LIRAP work?

If you're enrolled in our LIRAP program, you'll receive a 15% discount on your utility bills each month. This discount will be applied directly to your bill, so you won't have to worry about any extra paperwork or steps. Simply pay your bill as usual, and the discount will be automatically applied.

How do I apply for LIRAP?

Applying for LIRAP is easy! Simply download and fill out our application. You'll need to provide some basic information about your household. Once complete, you application must be submitted to Operation Fuel for review and approval.

A number of additional financial assistance programs are available to help eligible customers who are having difficulty paying their water bills—including our Voucher Program, Flexible Payment Plan, and Connecticut's Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP).
