New Hampshire Irrigation Schedule

Mandatory, Twice-Weekly Irrigation Schedule In Effect

This schedule applies to all Hampton, North Hampton, Rye and Stratham customers. It helps to ensure a sustainable drinking water supply, protect natural resources and streamflow for aquatic life, and respond to the region’s abnormally dry conditions, with limited precipitation in the forecast.

Watering of plants and gardens is permitted at any time when using drip irrigation, a hand-held hose, or a watering can.

Twice-Weekly Irrigation Schedule

Best practices for lawn watering

  • Optimum time to run sprinklers is between sunrise and 9 a.m., and one inch of water per week is sufficient to keep grass green.
  • Please avoid wasting water by sprinkling impermeable surfaces such as sidewalks and driveways.
  • No watering is necessary if it has rained within the last 48 hours. Pay attention the weather forecast and postpone watering if rain is forecast within the next 24 hours.
  • Hand watering is strongly encouraged for gardens, flowers and other ornamentals because it is a much more efficient use of water.
