Water Infrastructure Work to Begin in Darien

Nov 27, 2023 by Peter Fazekas Connecticut

Pump Station Replacement Project Scheduled to Start December 4, 2023

DARIEN, CONN. – November 27, 2023 – Aquarion Water Company is performing essential work on water infrastructure in Darien necessary to ensure continued system reliability.  On December 4, 2023, construction will start on a replacement pump station on Park Lane in Darien. The project calls for the replacement of an obsolete pump station and is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water and service in Darien.

The pump station replacement project was originally slated to launch in July 2023, however due to supply chain challenges, the project was delayed.  The project is now back on schedule with construction set to begin on December 4, 2023.  Aquarion anticipates that the project will be completed in Spring 2025

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Mike Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Capital Delivery, Engineering and Planning.  “We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”

Due to construction, residents should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during normal working hours between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Oxford-based Kovacs Construction Co. will be serving as the general contractor for the project.
