Aquarion Water Company Recommends Customers Turn Off Irrigation Systems for the Season

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. November 8, 2024 – With dry conditions continuing across the state and higher than average water demands, Aquarion Water Company requests that customers throughout its service territory in Connecticut turn off irrigation systems for the season. With cooler temperatures expected, irrigation system use is no longer necessary for watering lawns and gardens.

During this time of year, Aquarion’s water supplies begin to recover and build so they are ready for spring. With limited rainfall in the forecast, turning off irrigation systems will help ensure that the company’s reservoirs start refilling.

Aquarion customers are also encouraged to use water more efficiently indoors with the following tips:

  • Turn off the water while lathering your hands, shaving, or brushing your teeth.
  • Minimize baths and the amount of water used for each. Trim one minute off the length of your showers.
  • Wash only full loads in dishwashers and washing machines.
  • Hand-wash dishes in a pan or the sink, not under continuous running water.
