Aquarion Urges Ongoing Water Conservation

Following Governor Ned Lamont's Stage 2 Drought Advisory issued on October 7 for Fairfield, Middlesex, and New Haven Counties, Aquarion Water Company is encouraging customers to continue using water wisely to ensure adequate supplies for drinking, fire protection, and overall public health.

While some areas have received beneficial rainfall since the announcement, much of the state remains under abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions, and forecasts suggest limited precipitation in the near future.

We are actively monitoring our water systems and do not expect any of our systems to reach drought triggers this year. For ongoing updates, we encourage customers to visit our CT Water Supply Updates page.

Indoor Water Conservation Tips

Here are five simple ways you can help conserve water:

  1. Fix Leaks Promptly: Even small leaks can waste a significant amount of water. Regularly check for and repair any leaks in faucets, toilets, and pipes.
  2. Install Water-Efficient Fixtures: Use WaterSense-labeled fixtures like low-flow showerheads and faucets. These can significantly reduce water usage without compromising performance.
  3. Take Shorter Showers: Reducing your shower time by just a few minutes can save hundreds of gallons of water a month.
  4. Run Full Loads: Only run your dishwasher and washing machine with full loads. This maximizes the efficiency of water use per cycle.
  5. Turn Off the Tap: When brushing your teeth or washing dishes by hand, turn off the tap. This simple habit can save a lot of water over time.
