Aquarion Water Company Encourages Nominations for 16th Annual Environmental Champion Awards

Awards program celebrates Connecticut leaders driving environmental impact and sustainability

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. – March 17, 2026 – Aquarion Water Company today announced that nominations are open for the 2026 Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards. Now in its 16th year, the awards program recognizes Connecticut individuals, businesses, and organizations making meaningful contributions to environmental protection and sustainability across the state.

“Each year, we are inspired by the individuals and organizations whose environmental leadership is making a lasting difference in communities across Connecticut,” said Lucy Teixeira, President of Aquarion Water Company. “Their dedication, innovation, and measurable impact continue to raise the bar for volunteerism statewide. We encourage individuals and organizations to submit nominations and help us honor those protecting our shared natural resources for future generations.”

The 2026 Aquarion Environmental Champion Awards will recognize exceptional environmental achievements in the Business, Adult, Non-Profit Organization, and Student (Grades 9–12) categories. Winners in the Business, Adult, and Non-Profit Organization categories will have the opportunity to select an environmental non-profit organization to receive a $5,000 grant in their honor. The winner of the Student category will receive a $1,000 award. In addition, all honorees will benefit from statewide promotion highlighting their environmental leadership and commitment to conservation.

The deadline for submissions is May 8, 2026, and winners will be announced on June 6, 2026, during a special awards ceremony at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo.
