Pump station replacement project scheduled to start April 29
SIMSBURY, CONN. – April 16, 2024 – Aquarion Water Company continues to perform essential work on water infrastructure in Simsbury to ensure continued system reliability.
On April 29, construction will begin for a new pump station project on Aquarion’s property at 29 Clifdon Drive, adjacent to the company’s existing water tank. The facility will be constructed on an interior lot roughly 750 feet north of Clifdon Drive in a heavily wooded area. Like the tank, the pump station will not be visible from the road. This infrastructure upgrade is intended to resolve low-pressure issues, improve fire flows in the area, and improve system reliability. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2025.
“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Mike Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Capital Delivery, Engineering and Planning. “We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize disruptions.”
RH White Construction Co. will serve as the general contractor for the project. The contractor will access the construction site via Hoskins Road through the tobacco field and forest land, not via Clifdon Drive. Limited construction will occur off Clifdon Drive to construct a driveway and install electric and telecommunication service to the facility. Traffic delays and detours are possible during regular working hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
