This is an important message from Aquarion Water Company for residents in Newtown and Bethel. Due to the continued impact on our wellfield and water supply from the August 2024 rainstorm, a non-essential outdoor water ban is in effect until further notice to ensure an adequate water supply for daily use and fire flow.

This is an important message from the Aquarion Water Company. Restoration work on Aquarion’s Newtown Regional System’s wellfield, which was damaged in the August storm, is dependent on the removal of stone and debris from a collapsed railroad trestle. Currently, Aquarion’s wellfield remains flooded and cannot be utilized until water levels recede and the railroad trestle is replaced.

 

Customers continue to receive water from our secondary water source. However, until our primary wellfield is restored, a temporary irrigation ban will be in effect to ensure an adequate water supply is available for essential needs. Additionally, Aquarion is temporarily suspending new service connections to avoid additional water usage within the system.
