Brookside Drive Main Replacement- Greenwich

Jun 7, 2022 Connecticut

Project Goals and Objectives

A water main replacement project is scheduled to begin in June on Brookside Drive and is expected to be completed by mid-September. Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the Town of Greenwich.

Scope of Work

The project, which will replace approximately 2300 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

Detours

During the construction, there will be lane closures required on Brookside Drive. These closures will be in effect only during the expected working hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The detour routes will be clearly identified during the closures. The road will however be accessible to local traffic only.

The proposed detours are detailed as follows:

  1. Section One Detour - Brookside Drive closed between Grove Lane and West Putnam Avenue. Traffic will be detoured through Grove Lane, Deerfield Drive, West Putnam Avenue, and through a portion of Brookside Drive.
  2. Section Two Detour - Brookside Drive closed between West Putnam Avenue and Field Point Road. Traffic will be detoured through West Putnam Avenue, Brookside Drive, Field Point Road, and Prospect Street.

Throughout the project, signage will be used for detouring traffic. Uniformed traffic control officers or flag persons will be utilized only as needed. As listed above, the detour will vary by section, one section north of East Putnam Avenue and one section South of East Putnam Avenue.

Schedule

  • Work begins June 14th
  • Completion by mid-September
  • Restoration and final paving will be coordinated with the Town of Greenwich
