Water Main Replacement Project - Stratford

Feb 7, 2020 Connecticut

Water Infrastructure Upgrades Scheduled to Begin First Week of February

STRATFORD, CONN. – February 3, 2020 – Aquarion Water Company today announced a water main replacement project that is scheduled to begin on February 5, 2020 on Roosevelt Avenue and Wellington Street in Stratford. Additional water main replacements on Judson Place, Elm Street, Broad Street, Sutton Avenue and East Broadway will also be completed later in 2020.

The project, which will replace 10,400 feet of water main, is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water. The infrastructure upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

During the project, customers in the area may experience temporary service disruptions or discolored water. Aquarion recommends customers store water in their refrigerators for drinking and cooking in case these circumstances arise. Customers also should refrain from washing laundry if their water is discolored. Prior to resuming use, customers should run their cold-water faucets until the water appears clear.

“We greatly appreciate residents’ patience during this project,” said Michael Hiltz, Aquarion’s Manager of Utility Programs. “We will work closely with our customers, contractors, and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions.”

Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Stratford, CT-based Burns Construction will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project.
