IT Manager of End User Computing

The IT Manager of End User Computing (EUC) is responsible for the IT Service Desk, Desktop Services, select Security services, and Web business systems. The position is responsible for IT front-office customer service for all of Aquarion's 350+ employees and 20+ facilities across the New England region. The position oversees a work-force of five employees’ and 3rd party IT vendors; reporting to the Director of IT.

 Responsibilities:

  • Manage Service Desk function – includes intake, prioritization, and response to all incident/change requests (approx. 750+/month). These duties also include operating our IT service management processes (incident, change), our ITSM tools, and call reporting metrics.
  • Oversee Desktop Services – EUC hardware (desktop, laptop, tablet, MFP/printer, smart phones) and assoc. software (PC images, office productivity, business applications, etc); New deployments/releases, upgrades, relocations, security patching, and maint/repairs.
  • Perform Security/risk activities – End User access controls (Network, SAP), IT general control audits (& remediation plans), and our IT security policies.
  • Perform Web development activities – develop/support of AWC internet/Intranet systems, life-cycle/refresh of components, and assoc. enhancements to existing systems.
  • Oversee EUC projects – includes hardware/software life-cycle refreshes and the assoc.; managing budget, milestones/plans, resources, risks, status reporting).
  • Execute procurement/contract activities – solicitations/RFP, alternative bid/pricing, software licensing, vendor professional services contracts and statement-of-work
  • Oversee staff/consultant activities - team assignments, vendor relationships, resource needs, and performance reviews
  • Establish/maintain financial budgets for group – capital plans, operating expenses, licenses, labor (employee, prof services), and subscriptions

Requirements:

A  College diploma/degree (either BS or BA), preferably in CS/IT, along with experience operating an IT Service Desk function (ticket triage, incident/change, etc);  knowledge of IT service management practices (ITIL, ITSM);  experience running End-User systems (hardware, operating systems,etc). Proficiency with application support (business applications; databases, office productivity suite); knowledge of application development life-cycle, database systems, & infrastructure technologies; strong customer-service skills, a good communicator at all levels, experience motivating and directing workforce (employee, consultants). Experience managing budgets (operating expenses, capital), demonstrates experience in coordinating vendor contracts, bid/solicitation etc; ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
