Donald J. Morrissey was appointed Aquarion Company’s Vice President of Finance, effective September 1, 2003 and its Chief Financial Officer in July, 2006. Mr. Morrissey is responsible for directing all aspects of financial management, strategic and financial planning, rates and regulation and risk management for the company. As president of Aquarion’s non-regulated subsidiary, Homeowner Safety Valve Company, he oversees the marketing and administration of warranty services to regulated and municipal clients. In April 2004, Mr. Morrissey assumed new responsibilities as the Corporate Secretary.
Mr. Morrissey joined the company in 1995 and progressed through numerous financial positions of increasing responsibility, including controller, leading to his current position with Aquarion Water Company - the largest investor-owned water utility in New England and among the seven largest in the United States.
Before joining Aquarion, Mr. Morrissey was Manager of Financial Reporting at Reader’s Digest after spending five years at Arthur Andersen. A graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business, Mr. Morrissey holds a Masters in Business Administration in Finance and International Business. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Morrissey is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Morrissey is on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Water Companies. He is a member of the National Association of Water Companies’ Finance, Accounting and Tax Committee, and served as its Chairman from 2003 to 2008. In addition, Mr. Morrissey served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bridgeport Economic Resource Council from 2004 through 2009.
